Biometric Passport for Minors

In order to obtain a passport, it is mandatory to appear at the Consulate General of Georgia in person by making an appointment.

The following documents must be presented in order to receive a biometric passport:

1. A Copy of an Identity Document;
2. In order for a passport to be issued to minors under the age of 16, a letter of consent is necessary from both parents. If the minor is 16 years old, a letter of consent is necessary from only one parent;
   • • If a parent(s) appears at the Consulate General in person, a letter of consent will be completed in the presence of a consular officer;
     • In the case that a parent or legal guardian is not able to visit the Consulate General, the letter of consent may be certified by a notary office. Any document/consent notarized outside of Georgia requires Apostille (follow the link to see the list of US Authorities that Issue Apostilles );
     • A letter of consent can also be submited remotely through the official website of the Ministry of Juctice of Georgia - Public Service Development Agency;
3. Passports of the Parents / Legal Representative of the minor (valid document);
4. A minor born in Georgia must present a copy of a Georgian Birth Certificate. However, if the applicant is born in a foreign country, an apostilled copy of Birth Certificate must be presented (follow the link to see the list of US Authorities that Issue Apostilles );
5. $25 (USD) Money Order;
6. PREPAID ENVELOPE - with a return address and tracking number if you wish for the passport to be received by mail;

 

Please note that passports are issued within 45 days after the application and all required documents are submitted. Validty pariod of passport issued for a minor is 3 years.
